Childcare designed to grow young minds.

Meet our owner and teacher, Jessi!

Hello my name is Jessi Anderson, It is so nice to meet you!! I have almost 20 years of experience working with children in public and private schools and in early childhood settings. I decided to open a daycare center to share my knowledge and passion for Early Learning with families in Duluth!

I began my journey in education in 2005 when I started as a teacher’s assistant in my mother’s 2nd grade classroom in my tiny hometown of Cass Lake MN. From there I went on to get my Paraprofessional certificate which enabled me to work one on one with students in Special Education. I received my degree in Early Childhood education in 2009, with an emphasis on Early Literature Skills. In 2011, I traveled to upstate New York where I lived on a farm and studied Waldorf Early Childhood Education at Sunbridge Institute. Once I received my certificate in Waldorf Education, I came back to Duluth to be a part of opening Duluth’s first Waldorf inspired school, Spirit of the Lake. I was fortunate to learn more about the Montessori approach to education while working in a Montessori school. In 2016, I became the Lead Teacher for the preschool program at the North Shore Community School, where our program specialized in environmental education.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family. I have a blended family of 5 children ranging in ages from 15-22, a fun little energetic grandson, and 3 dogs!! We all enjoy being outside, playing card games, and watching funny movies together. I love being busy, which is why opening a daycare center was the best thing to do! I have a deep understanding of children and their developmental process. Supporting children to reach the important milestones in developing Social and Emotional skills as well as Physical and Cognitive abilities the first 5 years of life is my passion!

I’ve created a beautiful environment in which children can learn and grow, where they will feel safe and supported. We offer lots of opportunities to experience new and exciting things. The world really is their oyster and their minds truly are sponges. It is my goal to foster a desire for lifelong learning at an early age.

At Young Minds Learning Center, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing, stimulating and welcoming environment for all children. Our unique programs incorporate a variety of educational theories, while always keeping the child’s best interest in mind and allowing for hands-on, experiential learning.
